It is with sadness that we
announce the passing of "Sir" John L. Cooper on October 13, 2001 in
Washington, DC. John was the recent recipient of the People to
People International Life Time Achievement Award for over thirty years of service on the national
and international
level promoting the mission of People to People International. John
thought People to People International was not meant to be a big "peace making" organization
like the UN, but by being less spectacular and concentrating on Ike's concept of friendship
and understanding - concentrate on attitudes and acceptance of each others' differences through cultural and educational
exchanges.

Heartfelt appreciation goes to friends around the world who
have contacted People to People following the September 11th
acts of terrorism in New York, Washington, D.C., and
Pennsylvania. In addition to expressions of friendship and
support, numerous messages have been received from
individuals wondering what we, as members of this
organization, can do to assist. |

longtime friend of People to People International. Harold's wife, Harriet, has served in many leadership roles throughout the organization, currently
as a member of PTPI's Advisory Board and the Minnesota Chapter. |
