With the greatest respect and gratitude to our dear friends at People to People International and St. Vincent Ferrer.

For many years now Elizabeth Steward (member of PTPI Board of Trustees and Delray Beach and Greater Palm Beach Chapters) has filled us with her warmth and support from thousand of miles away. This year you join her efforts. All of us at the Shkola-Internat for orphans in the village of Krasnoye thank you from so much for your contributions for our large home.

240 children live and learn at our “Home,” similar, but not quite to your boarding schools. Out of the 240 children, 100 are orphans, the others are from unfortunate family circumstances. Children in our home are from 7 to 18 years of age.

Our children not only receive a complete academic education, but now also have music, art and computer classes. We raise money to take the children to the theater, museums and overall sightseeing fieldtrips. We try very hard to create a warm and caring atmosphere for our children, as in a home, because for many, this is their home.

Your interest and support of our “Home.” It helps our children more than you know, for it is very important for our children to feel that there are people that care and want to help. Our biggest project, our dream, is to attempt to get enough local interest in our orphans, so on Sunday families would take them into their homes. That, I think, would be wonderful, but it is not an easy dream to accomplish today in Russia. But, as Elizabeth Steward saw after a five year absence, is what we have achieved, so nothing is really impossible – where there is a will, there is a way!

Thank you for the funds you collected. Thank you for the clothes you collected, especially the uniforms. We hope to have our children sew their own uniforms in sewing class this fall, this is a great example. Thank you for the toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss and especially the candy bars!

We do not have Internet access yet, but when we do, it would be wonderful for our children to have penpals. This of course is still very much in the future, but we hope when we do, the miles between us will not seem so long.

We all wish you good health, happiness, and great success in all that you may dream! You have warmed the hearts of our children and us all!
